![]() Lithium Ferrous Phosphate battery storage cells are non-toxic, so that’s another element–so at end of life you’re not dealing with a material that’s more difficult to dispose of properly. In the way cobalt is mined and the humanitarian issues that surround cobalt mining in Africa. So, lithium ferrous phosphate–there aren’t sustainability issues like–with a–materials supply chain like there are with cobalt. Blue Planet Energy’s blue ion system is a lithium ferrous phosphate chemistry for the actual cells–so lithium ion cells–so it’s really important for consumers to understand that all lithium ion batteries aren’t the same. Those are lithium ion battery systems that contain cobalt and there’s–it’s a less thermally stable chemical composition for the lithium battery that requires active heating and cooling systems, so a lithium ion battery system that contains cobalt needs active heating and cooling because it has a really narrow temperature range that it can operate in. All lithium battery ion systems aren’t the same, so when you’re at the airport and you get the warning, you know, make sure to check any lithium ion batteries that you might have with you. JOE: The modern energy storage industry, the bulk–probably 95% of this systems deployed right now are lithium ion battery systems. Again, if you’re going through a 24 hour utility power safety shut down, you need a large reserve of storage especially if you’re looking to charge your electric vehicle or run air conditioning units/ HVAC units something like that during those fire events. So, frequently we’ll have say 24kW of inverter power for–say a large residence, coupled with maybe 60 kWh of our battery cabinets so that would be a number of our battery cabinets running in parallel, so there’s really no practical limit to what we can do in terms of paralleling those batteries for increased capacity, which is a really big-it’s a big deal for a lot of residences. Our system can be optimized to build out the inverter–the power conditioning that generates AC power to run standard household appliances in a residential application. I mentioned the 16kWh building block of our system and so we can parallel all the way up to 448kWh and so limitation of a lot of systems, residential scale energy storage systems other than a lot of them contain cobalt, which is a-not thermally stable and also they’re sustainability elements of that cobalt product, so again we’re using a Lithium Ferrous Phosphate cell technology and a lot of systems are limited to a 5kW inverter and say maybe 14kWh of energy storage. JOE: That’s one of the biggest highlights of our value proposition I would say, especially for residential scale systems and small business systems. ![]()
